This Turkey Chili is my absolute favorite. It’s hearty, flavorful, and comes together super quickly. Plus, it’s a healthier alternative to classic chili recipes loaded with ground beef.
Here’s what makes this chili so special:
- Flavor Bomb: Tender ground turkey combines with perfectly seasoned beans and a touch of spice for a satisfying bite.
- Easy Peasy: This recipe comes together in under 30 minutes, making it perfect for busy weeknights.
- Customizable: Don’t like green chiles? Swap them for jalapenos for a kick! Want different beans? Go for it!
Now, let’s get cooking!
Ingredients:
- Ground turkey (feel free to use chicken or beef if you prefer)
- Green chiles (mild flavor) – swap with jalapenos for more heat!
- Black beans and kidney beans (canned work great)
- Onion, garlic, spices (chili powder, cumin, etc.)
- Diced tomatoes (canned are perfect)
- Broth (chicken or vegetable)
Stovetop Method:
- Brown the turkey and onions in a pot. Drain any excess grease.
- Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
- Throw in all the remaining ingredients and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
- Dish it up and get ready to customize with your favorite toppings!
Slow Cooker Method:
- Sauté the turkey and onions in a skillet until browned and softened.
- Transfer everything to your slow cooker.
- Add all the other ingredients and let it simmer for the rest of the day. Easy as that!
Topping Time!
This is where things get fun. Here are some topping ideas to create a chili bar at home:
- Cheese galore: Mild cheddar, sharp cheddar, pepper jack – you choose!
- Cool and creamy: Sour cream or Greek yogurt for a contrasting taste.
- Freshness factor: Chopped white onion, sliced green onion, or cilantro.
- Tex Mex lovers rejoice: A sprinkle of cilantro is always a win.
- Dipping fun: Homemade tortilla chips or Fritos for scooping.
- Wrap it up: Flour tortillas for those who love a heartier option.
- Cool it down: Avocado slices to tame the heat.
- Spice it up: Hot sauce for those who like an extra kick.
So there you have it! My award-winning (at least in my family!) Turkey Chili recipe. It’s easy, flavorful, and perfect for customizing to your taste. Enjoy!
