Cheese fondue is the ultimate appetizer or snack, guaranteed to impress your friends and family.

Ingredients

  • 1 clove garlic
  • 16 ounces shredded cheese (Gruyere and Fontina blend, or similar)
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 cup dry white wine (Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, or Chardonnay)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • Pinch of nutmeg
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Rub garlic clove inside a pot, then discard.
  2. Combine shredded cheese and cornstarch in a bag, shake to coat.
  3. Heat wine and lemon juice in the pot until simmering.
  4. Slowly whisk in cheese a handful at a time until melted and smooth. Reduce heat if needed to prevent boiling.
  5. Remove from heat, whisk in nutmeg. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Serve immediately. Keep warm in a fondue pot or over a small candle.
