Healthy Recipe for Students: Dragon Fruit Kombucha and Nut Snack

Hello, my companions of the table! I am here as a food blogger, and I want to share the student life which is the living proof that simple, affordable, and nutritious meals can be the best solution. Just recently, I bumped into a piece of content hosted by @Yowesfine on the following the latest health diet issue with two unexpected healthy foods: purple kombucha and a dragon fruit with a nut snack. We can even show you a few recipes that are easy for you to try on a small budget.

1. Dragon Fruit Kombucha Recipe (Healthy Fermented Drink)

Kombucha, which is rich in probiotics due to the fermentation process and therefore is very good for digestion, is a great drink. This new variant was launched with a dragon fruit addition to creating a purple color and a refreshing taste as the final result.

Ingredients:

  • 1 liter of boiled water (cooled)
  • 2 tablespoons of green tea or black tea (can use tea bags)
  • 4-5 tablespoons of granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 SCOBY kombucha (available online or from a friend who makes it)
  • 200 ml starter liquid (liquid from a previous kombucha batch or apple cider vinegar)
  • 1 red dragon fruit (blended into a smooth puree for color and flavor)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Tea Base: First, bring water to a boil, and then add the tea to that 2 tablespoons of green or black tea. Also add some granulated sugar, give it a good stir and wait until it cools down.
  2. Add SCOBY and Starter: Once it was cooled, pour some tea into a sterilized glass container. Add the SCOBY and the starter liquid are examples. Blend to a smooth puree also one red dragon fruit (In case you want it to be firm, be sure to strain it).
  3. Ferment: Use a clean piece of cloth to cover the container and then secure it in place by binding with a rubber band. Keep in a warm and dark place (temperature of 25-30°C) for 7-14 days. Try the solution every couple of days—you can test it by the taste; it turns acidic gradually.
  4. Bottle and Chill: After the fermentation process is over, you should pour the whole thing into the airtight bottles. The refrigerator can be set for 1-2 days in order to get a more refreshing flavor. This can be served cold!!!

Tips:

  • If you are unlucky enough to lack a SCOBY, you are advised to purchase kombucha with a small amount and initiate the fermentation process at home.
  • Actually, the pink of the dragon fruit is both beautiful and full of nutrition!

2. Dragon Fruit and Nut Snack Recipe (Healthy Snack)

Difficult to believe one could eat a dragon fruit and nut snack that is not only healthy but also a part of a kid’s meal or a student’s standard snack.

The Dragon Fruit is filled with energy, fiber, and healthy fats, while the nuts provide a good amount of dietary fiber. It is an excellent combination of the two.

Ingredients:

  • 1 red dragon fruit (peeled and cut into small cubes)
  • 50 grams roasted cashews (optional)
  • 30 grams walnuts (roughly chopped)
  • 20 grams almonds (chopped or whole)
  • 20 grams sunflower seeds (roasted, optional)
  • 1 teaspoon honey (optional, for a touch of sweetness)
  • A pinch of salt (optional, for a savory kick)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dragon Fruit: Remove the peel from the dragon fruit and then chop it into small chunks or the preferred shape. Place in a separate container.
  2. Mix the Nuts: In a bowl, mix cashews, walnuts, sunflower seeds, and almonds. In the end, if you want, put some honey and salt. Of course, mix it for a delightful taste.
  3. Combine: Lightly blend the dragon fruit pieces into the nut mixture. Make sure it is not too mashed up though.
  4. Serve: The snack has to be stored in an airtight box and can be eaten as a snack at any time!

Tips:

  • Feel free to utilize other nuts or grains that you have, such as pistachios and pumpkin seeds, in place of cashews or sunflower seeds.
  • For your convenience, get a ready-made nut mix from the supermarket or the e-store.

Why These Recipes Are Perfect for Students
